Sapa Adventure: Hike and Picnic in the Mountains! (Full Day)

Morning

8:30 AM: Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Sapa. After a short greeting and briefing, you’ll hop in a car for a scenic 20 minute drive to O Quy Ho village, about 8 kilometers away.

  • From here, the hiking adventure begins! As you walk up the mountain trail, you’ll pass by lush gardens filled with fruit trees and vegetables like chayote (su su), cabbage, and even green tea plants.

  • Keep an eye out for a charming little waterfall and a beautiful rose garden a romantic touch to the journey!

  • The hike continues with gorgeous valley views, and if you’re lucky, you might spot cows or goats grazing nearby.

  • After about 40 minutes, you’ll reach the first resting point on a grassy hill with breathtaking views a great place to relax, take photos, or just breathe in the fresh mountain air.

12:00 PM: Lunchtime! Your guide will set up a tasty picnic at a higher peak with even more stunning views. From here, you might catch glimpses of Mount Fansipan, Silver Waterfall, Ban Khoang village, and Ta Phin village in the distance.

Afternoon (1:00 PM 3:40 PM)

  • After lunch, you’ll begin the descent down the other side of the mountain.  Along the way, you’ll see some curious dead trees that haven’t decomposed nature’s art in its own way!

  • More great views await you as we continue downhill. You’ll also pass grazing buffalo, goats, and cows enjoying their peaceful mountain life.

  • A small wooden hut along the trail might catch your eye it’s the home of a local family, offering a glimpse into simple but happy mountain living.

  • The trek leads to Ta Phin village, home to both Red Dao and Black Hmong ethnic minorities. The Hmong have fascinating marriage customs, while the Red Dao are famous for their traditional herbal medicine practices.

  • You’ll also pass by beautiful rice terraces, which are a major food source for the local people and an iconic sight of Sapa.

3:40 PM: A car will pick you up in Ta Phin village and take you back to Sapa town.

Around 4:00 PM: You’ll arrive back at your hotel. Feel free to say goodbye to your guide, snap a final photo, and reflect on the day’s adventure. With time to spare, you can catch an evening bus back to Hanoi or continue exploring the charm of Sapa.

Price for a group tour

This tour is for groups of 2 to 6 people. The price is 45 USD per person.

Here’s how it works:

– We will tell you a day before your tour how many other people will be joining you.

– If nobody else joins your tour, you will have a private tour (just you) for an extra 15 USD (which you will need to pay then).

– If there are other people joining you, but there are fewer than 2 people total, there will be no extra charge.

Sapa Local Guide cancellation policy

6+ days prior tour start date: 100% reimbursement of the tour price (no cancellation charges)
2 to 5-days prior tour start date: 50% reimbursement of the tour price
1 day before or same day of tour start date: no reimbursement

Bus From Hanoi to Sapa (Optional)

This is an optional extra.

The bus ride to Sapa takes about 6 hours. If you get to Sapa earlier than planned, you can wait at the bus station or on the bus itself until 5:00 am.

We have three bus options:

  • Sleeper Bus: This is a good choice if you’re on a budget and don’t mind sharing some space. Plus, the beds can be adjusted if you’re a bit taller.
  • Cabin Sleeper Bus: This is a more private option with a private cabin.
  • Single Cabin Sleeper Bus: This is also a private cabin, but for just one person.

Whichever option you choose, once we receive your booking, we’ll confirm it and send you your bus tickets!

Bus Price

Cabin Sleeper Bus (30 USD each way): This option has a private room with 2 bunk beds, perfect for couples or anyone who wants privacy.

Single Cabin Sleeper Bus (20 USD each way): This is a private room with just one bed, ideal for solo travelers who want some peace and quiet.

Sleeper Bus (15 USD each way): This is the most affordable option. You’ll have a single bed in a shared space.
