Authentic Experience of Sapa
Experience The Traditional Cultural Village Of The Black Hmong
Let’s join a Sapa local guide to experience the challenging journey of walking to explore the three villages of Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, and Ta Van in a one-day trekking trip. This is not a normal trekking trip, but a journey to test the flexibility of your legs — a trip to explore and experience, to learn about differences, and to exchange knowledge about the lifestyle and culture between people in the current era of industrialization. This trekking trip is also an internship and learning opportunity for young people to experience the reality of life in the villages around Sapa.
Through this discovery trip, I am sure that we will all gain our own lessons and experiences, develop our own plans for the future, feel grateful to our parents, and learn to appreciate every minute, every second, and the job we have. After this challenging trip, we will realize that there are people who are poorer and face more difficulties than us — yet they still try their best to support themselves and their families.
This is also a journey to explore and reflect on the simple, peaceful life of helping one another without concern for money — the way our ancestors once lived — a kind of peace that has now disappeared in today’s modernized cities.
This one-day trip through the three villages will be a memorable and unforgettable experience for everyone. The local tour guide from the village, who was born and raised in the remote highlands and knows this area well, will take you through trails to visit simple traditional houses, tell you stories about daily life, and bring you back to the past — to the world of our ancestors, in a peaceful natural life untouched by today’s harmful chemicals.

Sapa Local Authentic Trekking Tour: From Sapa to Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van Villages
Around 8:30 am or 9:00 am, our local guide will find and meet you at your hotel or at the meeting point in front of Sapa town center, will greet and briefly introduce the itinerary and tour map.
Your trekking trip will start with a walk of more than 1 kilometer to get out of Sapa town center to a bamboo forest of local people. You walk through the bamboo forest with small houses nestled peacefully in the corners of the surrounding area, where familiar animals such as dogs, pigs, chickens, and buffaloes graze and run peacefully with the deep green mountains and forests. With a panoramic view of the valley and Muong Hoa stream, you can freely take beautiful photos with nature.
It takes you about 15 to 25 minutes to go through the catfish forest to reach the first traditional houses handcrafted with wood that still has the original saws and axes. Here, your local guide will reveal the stories and traditions of the family to you. You will continue to go along the Muong Hoa stream with the trails of the people to the beginning of Y Linh Ho village. Passing the stream will open before your eyes terraced fields stretching on the mountainside like the wicks in a fairy tale that are more than 100 years old, created by the hands of the local people. It will take you about 2 to 3 hours to go through and take pictures with the terraced fields. Your guide will lead you to visit the traditional houses here with the warm welcome of the host. You will hear wonderful stories about life, their hard work, and they will tell you about how they keep and take care of their terraced fields like taking care of a child because that is the source of life for the local people.
Here, if you are interested, you will be able to listen and experience wonderful stories and see the reality of a simple and peaceful life helping each other when seeing others in difficulty that the rich people in the city do not have. You will see the peace that the houses here do not need to lock the door, living in peace naturally without theft.
After visiting and exploring the traditional houses and their stories, it is also time for you to recharge your energy. You will leave the traditional house and walk on the terraced fields for about 20 minutes to a local restaurant. Here they have all the local dishes and drinks for you to choose from.
After lunch, you continue to go 2 hours to Lao Chai village and Ta Van village to visit traditional souvenir shops to see how they create traditional clothes of the Black Hmong people with flax and dye them black with natural indigo, how they draw beeswax and dye with natural indigo to create beautiful, bright colors that are friendly to the people and nature here.
After passing Lao Chai village, you will go to Ta Van village, a village of the Giay people with unique stilt houses with special traditional clothes colors that are rich and friendly to nature, such as pink, red, blue, green, orange, purple, of soft silk fabric, along with silk scarves that seem to connect the feelings of everyone together with sweet songs and singing. When coming here, you will not want to leave.
This is also where our Sapa Local Guide car is waiting to pick you up to return to Sapa, ending your 1-day trekking trip at 3:30 pm, leaving you with a regret or something that cannot be put into words.
