Fansipan Mountain Climbing Experience

Your journey begins with our friendly local guide, who will take you up the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. This is where Fansipan, the highest mountain in Indochina, is located.

As you start the climb, you will see the forest slowly change. First, you walk through tall green trees and fresh mountain air. As you go higher, you’ll see yellow bamboo and even very old pine trees. If you’re lucky, you might spot some mountain goats or langur monkeys along the way.

This hike is not easy. It will test your strength and help you push your limits. But don’t worry our helpful porters and local guide will stay with you the whole time, showing you each step until you reach the top.

At the peak, you’ll be standing on the roof of Indochina! The area is part of a nature reserve, home to many kinds of animals and plants. There are more than 100 types of orchids here. At the top, the forest turns into a peaceful place filled with dwarf bamboo, and the view is amazing.

Detailed itinerary of local Sapa tour guide

1-Day Fansipan Mountain Trek

Important: You must book and pay for this tour before 4:00 PM the day before your hike. This is so we have time to get your trekking permit for Fansipan Mountain.

Before the Hike

Your Fansipan 1-day tour starts at 5:30 AM and ends around 4:00–5:00 PM in Sapa. Our guide and driver will pick you up at 5:30 AM from your hotel and take you to Tram Ton Pass, about 15 km from Sapa town.

Please eat breakfast before the tour or bring it with you. We do not provide breakfast.

During the Hike

You will start hiking from Tram Ton Pass. You will walk up through the rainforest, climbing about 1,000 meters. Along the way, you will take short breaks and have snacks.

At 2,800 meters, you will stop for a picnic lunch and take a rest.

After lunch, you will keep hiking to the top of Fansipan, which is 3,147 meters high. If the sky is clear, you will see amazing views of Sapa town and the beautiful Hoang Lien Son mountain range.

When you reach the top, your guide will give you a medal and a certificate, and take a photo to show that you made it to the highest point in Indochina!

After Reaching the Peak

You can take some time to enjoy the peak, visit the Buddhist temples and statues, and relax.

Then, you will hike back down to Tram Ton Pass, where the car will pick you up and take you back to your hotel in Sapa.

If you are too tired to hike back, you can choose to take the cable car and funicular back down to Sapa town. But please note: the cable car ticket is not included in the tour, and we will send a car to pick you up at the cable car station.

Important Rules

This tour is only for people who are physically fit.
You must stay with our local guide at all times during the hike.
If you leave the guide and hike alone, you may be fined by the national park staff.
If you get hurt or lost while hiking alone, we are not responsible.
We will not take any responsibility if you leave the guide.

Price for a group tour

This tour is for groups of 2 to 6 people. The price is 90 USD per person.

Here’s how it works:

We will tell you a day before your tour how many other people will be joining you.

If nobody else joins your tour, you will have a private tour (just you) for an extra 8 USD (which you will need to pay then).

If there are other people joining you, but there are fewer than 2 people total, there will be no extra charge.

Sapa Local Guide cancellation policy

6+ days prior tour start date: 100% reimbursement of the tour price (no cancellation charges)
2 to 5-days prior tour start date: 50% reimbursement of the tour price
1 day before or same day of tour start date: no reimbursement

The bus ride to Sapa takes about 6 hours. If you get to Sapa earlier than planned, you can wait at the bus station or on the bus itself until 5:00 am.

We have three bus options:

Sleeper Bus: This is a good choice if you’re on a budget and don’t mind sharing some space. Plus, the beds can be adjusted if you’re a bit taller.
Cabin Sleeper Bus: This is a more private option with a private cabin.
Single Cabin Sleeper Bus: This is also a private cabin, but for just one person.

Whichever option you choose, once we receive your booking, we’ll confirm it and send you your bus tickets!

Bus Price

Cabin Sleeper Bus (30 USD each way): This option has a private room with 2 bunk beds, perfect for couples or anyone who wants privacy.

Single Cabin Sleeper Bus (20 USD each way): This is a private room with just one bed, ideal for solo travelers who want some peace and quiet.

Sleeper Bus (15 USD each way): This is the most affordable option. You’ll have a single bed in a shared space.
